It is hard to believe that it has been almost 5 weeks since baby chicks moved into chicken coops, constructed by ISCA (with a lot of help fromour Haitian partners!). We have been recently updated and, so far, the chicks are doing very well and the families are amazed at the growth rate of the chicks. In another week, the families will start marketing the chickens and realize the benefits of this particular style of management. Certainly this more managed approach to chicken production is a new one for Haitians and it has come with a lot of support in the form of training the families, local veterinarian agents, and agrologists. Stay tuned….more updates to come!
